Recordings of a public lecture by historian Franz Szabo that took place Oct. 5, 2000 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal. Szabo traces the roots of modernism in Central Europe back to the Baroque. Presented in the context of the exhibition "Shaping the Great City: Modern Architecture in Central Europe 1890-1937"/"L'idée de la grande ville: l'architecture moderne d'europe centrale 1890-1937" on view at the CCA May 24-Oct. 15, 2000. Introductory and closing remarks by Nancy Dunton.
